'Eio' is ancient Egyptian for donkey. Like books, donkeys are small things, but they carry a lot of weight.

EIO BOOKS is a small and very independent publisher based in one of the last bastions of the American dream: Vermont. We were founded, well, rather recently—in 2004. Being writers ourselves, and often published by one or the other of the major houses, we know what it's like out there these days. Dismaying as the established publishing world has become, still...there is a silver lining. Corporate ethos applied to the art of writing has forced us to find a way around these people—hence the growing success of the Internet and the small publisher.

Our intention is to publish fiction that stuns, amuses, or thrills us, as well as quality nonfiction. We love mysteries, adventures, thrillers, fantasies, books about racehorses, good well-written literature about almost anything...oh heck, call us eclectic and be done with it. We are not the least bit sniffy about science fiction or westerns or the simply entertaining, but are not inclined towards porn, hard or soft. Maybe erotica?

We are launching ourselves into the vital world of the printed word with THE SECRET MAGDALENE.

God knows what we'll follow this astonishing effort with. A ghost story? Or —Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About Enlightenment.
